Employment Program

The Mustard Seed Employment Program provides support to those currently experiencing poverty, homelessness, and/or any barriers to employment. It is a client driven program that helps the client find competitive employment in Calgary and area. Our goal is to help client’s find and maintain sustainable employment. The employment program consists of three streams, depending on the client’s needs/barriers.

Stream One: The Seed Academy
Employment Readiness Workshops

    Pre-Employment Program (PEP)

  • 4 Day Program to “Kick Start” Your Job Search
  • Group learning with a focus on: job preparation, resume writing, online job searching and interview preparation

    Intro to Computers (ITC)

  • 3 Day Basic Computer Program
  • Group learning with a focus on: getting started, basic Microsoft Word, the internet, email, job searching and smart phones

Stream Two: One-on-One
Individualized Employment Support

    Coaching / Counselling

  • Ongoing one-on-one support for up to one year supporting clients with job preparation, job searching and follow up after a job is obtained

    Drop In

  • Fast and effective help with resumes, interview skills, and job searching

Fast Track Services
Targeted and Quick Employment Assistance

Fast Track services are designed as a one-time service for clients who have been offered employment (with a valid job confirmation) and need assistance such as work clothing, bus tickets, etc.


  • The client must be registered with The Mustard Seed or be willing to do an Intake with Wellness Centre Advocates
  • The client must have an Employment Confirmation form filled out by the employer
  • The client must be working in a permanent position (PT/FT) or a 3 month+ contract position
  • The client has not utilized Fast Track services for work clothing, safety tickets, or bus tickets in a year

Program Eligibility

    To be part of the program clients must:

  • Be a registered Mustard Seed guest/client
  • Be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Be experiencing any barriers to employment
  • Be ready, willing, and able to work

How to Apply

    Clients can fill out and submit applications at one of these locations:

    102 Support Centre (102 11 Ave SE)

    • Information Session every Thursday at 1 p.m.

    TMS Shelter

    • Thursdays, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

    The Neighbour Centre

    • Mon, Wed, Fri, 9 a.m. – 4 – p.m.
    • Tues & Thurs, 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.

    TMS Manchester Hub

    • Mondays, 1 p.m. – 4p.m
